Canada
Market Overview
Canada is the second-largest international market for the Hawaiian Islands and has an important relationship with Hawai‘i, specifically the western provinces of British Columbia and Alberta. In addition, Ontario is a growing market for Hawai‘i. Canadian Snowbirds spend a great amount of time in Hawai‘i during the winter months and many Canadians own real estate throughout the islands.

Strategy
- Strengthen Hawaiʻi’s brand image as a premier destination for Canadians by clearly conveying that Canadians are welcomed and deeply valued, grounded in the spirit of aloha.
- Highlight Maui’s distinctive attributes and the close relationship it shares with Canada, understanding its vital role in the island’s continued recovery.
- Focus on Canadians who continue to travel internationally and demonstrate lower price sensitivity despite economic uncertainty.
- Position Hawaiʻi as more than a winter escape by aligning with Canadian interests in mindful travel, cultural immersion, diverse experiences, relaxation, and safety.
- Equip Canadian travel trade professionals to serve as knowledgeable and passionate brand ambassadors for Hawaiʻi.
- Maintain and grow key partnerships through trade initiatives, airlines and tour operator collaborations, and the annual Aloha Canada sales mission.
